Saturday, October 19, 2024:  Anahuac NWR

Anahuac’s Shoveler Pond Auto-Tour loop, Butterfly Garden, moist soil units, and Skillern Tract are just a few of the places on the refuge where the wildlife watching is spectacular. Here you will find excellent views of alligators and opportunities to see a variety of birds. Boardwalks and overlooks provide great vantage points.

Saturday, January 18, 2025:  Bolivar Peninsula

Join our coastal staff as they lead our group to some of the great birding hot spots on the peninsula. Registration opens soon.

Saturday, March 15, 2025: Galveston Hot Spots

Explore some hot spots on Galveston Island-maybe discover some new ones!

Saturday, April 26, 2025: High Island

High Island birding is generally better in the afternoons so for this trip we will meet at Smith Oaks and bird the rookery at 1:00 PM before heading across town to Boy Scout Woods and the other nearby sites. Entry fee associated-Day passes and annual patches can be purchased when we arrive.

Saturday, May 17, 2025: Archbishop Fiorenza Park

Archbishop Fiorenza Park in west Houston gives you a chance to see a multitude of species and get a good, healthy walk in as well!

Field Trip Guidelines

  • Participation

Each trip will have a limited number of participants, normally 25, and participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis. There may be some field trips in which the number of participants will vary from the 25 stated above, depending on the logistics of the trip. A trip may be canceled if there are not enough participants.
